AFTERSCHOOL BOWLING, K – 5

Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation is offering After School Bowling as a fun, safe, supervised and recreation activity for students. Join us for a trip to the Easton’s Bowling Centre. SHOOTING STARS BASKETBALL, AGES 3 – 5

Through various developmentally appropriate skills exercises, Shooting Stars Basketball will introduce children ages 3 – 5 to the fine and gross motor skills necessary to play the game of basketball. Using the Start Smart Sports basketball curriculum you and your little one will work together to develop fundamental basketball skills such as dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility all in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. Held once a week for 6 weeks, each week the skills exercises will increase in difficulty as the participants’ progress. No special equipment is needed. INDOOR PICKLEBALL

Come play the game with the funny name!  A paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Pickleball is gaining popularity all across the United States because it is appropriate for all ages and athletic abilities!  A limited number of paddles are available, or bring your own.  Pre-registration is required.  Cost: $40

BOATER SAFETY, AGES 12 AND UP

Learn boating skills IN THE CLASSROOM with a skilled instructor and earn your valid certificate of boating safety from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The topics that will be covered include types of vessels, MD regulations, what to do in an emergency, navigational aids, marine weather, paddle craft responsibility, personal watercraft safety, and much more. This course meets the Maryland Boating Safety Education Act requirement needed for persons born on or after July 1, 1972, to operate a motorized vessel on Maryland waters. Cost: $30 per person

SMITHSONIAN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY & CULTURE

A People’s Journey, A Nation’s Story”  Join Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation for a trip to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture.  The Smithsonian’s newest museum is home to nearly 3000 objects, 12 exhibitions, 13 different interactives with 17 stations, and 183 videos portraying “Powerful moments in African American history, culture, and community.”  Download the museums mobile app as a compliment to your onsite experience at https://nmaahc.si.edu/connect/mobile/apps  Registration fee includes motor coach transportation and timed passes (10:00 am Entry) to the museum.

OPEN GYM FOR YOUTH WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, ALL AGES 
Sports Activities for Youth with Disabilities is a unique recreational program designed so that children with any type of disability can participate in sports, particularly if their disability makes it difficult for them to join other mainstream programs. Activities will be tailored to meet the interest and ability level of each participant. The kids can learn basic skills and participate on an individual basis with a small group in basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, hockey, volleyball, bowling and kickball. A parent or guardian is required to attend and may help or participate as needed. Cost: $75

THE GREAT EGG HUNT, AGES 1- 13  

Did some BUNNY say egg hunt?   Join Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation for a “hoppin” good time.  We will celebrate the beginning of spring with crafts, games, a visit from the Easter Bunny and of course  the great egg hunt! Be sure to bring your basket to collect eggs, and a camera to take pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Age brackets for The Great Hunt are: Ages 1- 4, Ages 5 – 9, and Ages 10 – 13. No Rain date, please dress for the weather!  Cost: $3 pre-registration, $ 5 onsite fee

TASTE OF THE MATAPEAKE: A CHESAPEAKE COMMUNITY CELEBRATION

Come out for this community event and enjoy local food trucks, musicians, art and craft vendors, in addition to wineries and breweries from all around Queen Anne’s County and neighboring areas. Children will have an opportunity to grab some kid friendly food, burn off their energy in our bouncy house and get their face painted while their parents relax listening to local musicians.

Dynamic Volleyball Academy’s clinics are designed specifically for the beginning male or female volleyball athlete. This program includes age-appropriate instruction, focusing on motor skills, ball skills, game skills and most importantly, fun!”  Cost: $75
