“DNR Boating Services is proud to announce production of this new water trails map and guide, made possible through a partnership with Queen Anne’s County. This new guide adds to Maryland’s ever growing network of water trails and public access,” said DNR Secretary John R. Griffin. DNR produced the new map, titled Kent Island Water Trails: Explore Maryland’s Eastern Shore, in partnership with the Queen Anne’s County Department of Parks and Recreation. Funding to produce the map and guide was provided through Recreational Trails Program of the Maryland State Highway Administration. “This water trail guide outlines six routes and is a handy resource that details the amenities along each route,” said Queen Anne’s County Commission President Gene Ransom. “While we are known for having great hiking and biking trails across Kent Island, this publication will raise awareness of the fantastic opportunities and sights offered by our water trails.” Copies of the new water trails map and guide are available in Queen Anne’s County at the Chesapeake Exploration Center, Department Parks & Recreation, and area libraries. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources and Queen Anne’s County have created a new water trails map and guide to lead paddlers along six separate water trail routes in the Kent Island area of Queen Anne’s County. The colorful guide, printed on waterproof, tear-proof paper, was designed primarily for those touring by small, non-motorized boats, such as kayaks and canoes, but also provides information on motorized recreational boating access sites in the area. The map and guide features practical information and details on access points and paddling routes along the Chesapeake Bay, Eastern Bay, Chester River, Prospect Bay, Thompson Creek, and Warehouse Creek.
