Sports Activities for Youth with Disabilities is a unique recreational program designed so that children with any type of disability can participate in sports, particularly if their disability makes it difficult for them to join other mainstream group programs.
 Queen Anne’s County Parks and Recreation is offering this ten-week program which has been organized by Lee Marks, a member of the department’s board of directors and an avid sports-dad. The Sports Activities for Youth with Disabilities program will be held at Kent Island Elementary School’s gym, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays beginning April 15, 2010.

Sign up your toddlers for fun-filled mornings of games, hands-on projects, music, storytelling and much more. Parent participation required. Cost: $40

The Challenger way focuses on challenging players to improve with maximum participation, maximum touches on the ball and maximum fun.  Simply put, no line drills, no long speeches and lots of encouragement. Plus, every camper gets a cool T-shirt and soccer ball!  Campers need to bring shin guards, drinks, snacks and sunscreen.

Old Love Point Park
Dates:  Monday – Friday, April 5 – April 9, 2010

Children participate in a structured, introductory tumbling class. Skills such as forward roll, crab walk, bridge, handstand, and more will be taught. Props such as hoops, ribbons, and balance beam will be used. Cost: $75

Children participate in creative movement activities that are designed to encourage the development of body awareness, hand eye coordination, balance, agility, and self esteem. Props are used. Classes are held on Kent Island. Participation of a playful parent is required. Cost: $75

QAC Parks and Recreation will hold an open registration for the 2010 – 2011 school year on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Historic Christ Church Tiny Tot classroom in downtown Stevensville from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Your child must be 3 or 4 years old by December 31, 2010. Children will be introduced to numbers, letters, colors, tastes, history, science, and math and will develop social skills in a caring, fun-filled environment. A $50 non-refundable registration fee and a copy of proof of age are required at the time of registration. This program is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education – Office of Child Care.
Four Year Old Classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Three Year Old Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
